Daniel Murphy Jr., age 52, passed away from cancer on Saturday October 21, 2017 at 6:35 pm at his home in Dove Creek, CO with family and friends by his side. Dan was born on September 13, 1965 in New London, CT to Andrea (Angie) Murphy and Daniel Murphy. Dan (Walks Alone) accomplished many things, including becoming an ordained minister. He enjoyed truck driving, fishing, training dogs, riding horses, traveling, playing sports with anyone who wanted to, and was a talented artist as well as a serious card player. He had worked at Big-O-Tires, G Whil Liquors of Cortez, and various other jobs over the years.
Walks Alone is survived by his mother Andrea (Angie) Murphy of Dove Creek, CO; sister Angel (Paul) Garcia of Ark Valley, CO; sister Christina Murphy and Judith Kernan of Colbran, CO; 2 nephews Shaun Murphy and Quinten (Oso) Murphy of Ark Valley, CO; Aunt Sue and Uncle Bob Martinez of South Jordan, UT; Aunt Robin Grondin of Eureka, UT; two step-daughters Beronica (Daniel) Holley and Bianca Baier; ex-wife and good friend Jody Murphy of Cortez; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his best friend Tonda, nephew Joseph Gallegos, Aunt Mary Keller and sister Regina Marble.
The funeral ceremony was held at the First Assembly of God Church in Dove Creek, CO on October 27 and he was laid to rest at the Dove Creek Cemetery. There was a potluck at the community center for family and friends following his burial. He will be greatly missed and remembered in the hearts of those that loved him.
