Beverly B. Tracey, age 82, of Corning, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Elcor Nursing Home on Sunday October 4, 2015. She was born on June 24, 1933 in Little Marsh, PA, the daughter of Frederick and Florence (Cram) Burrell. She was married to Francis (Shotty) Tracey on January 25, 1958 in Corning.
Surviving are her husband, Francis, of Corning; three children, Susan (Bruce) Rund of Tacoma, WA, William (Sharon) Tracey of Douglassville, PA and Patrick (Dawn) Tracey of Oshkosh, WI; a brother, Dale (Rita) Burrell of Holley, NY; and four grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Brittney and Patrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roger; and dear friend, Cynthia Kagenski.
Beverly grew up on her parents' farm and graduated from high school in 1951. She moved to Corning and began work as a sales clerk at The Style Center, a fine ladies store on Market Street. Later, she worked for Corning Glass Works as a typist and there she met Shotty. They were married, started a family, and bought a house on West Fourth Street, where she spent her entire life. When her children were older, she went back to work as a secretary at the Corning Chamber of Commerce. After the flood of '72, she worked at Corning Crossroads, Inc., and then at Three Rivers Development Corp. She was known for her fast shorthand and typing skills and her hard work ethic was much appreciated by the executives she supported. She was an accomplished homemaker and loved to cook, bake, sew, knit and crochet for her family and everyone she knew. Beverly loved the outdoors, gardening, and flowers. During retirement, Beverly and Shotty traveled the US from coast to coast visiting their children and grandchildren in Washington, Arizona, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. They spent many happy times in Florida, the Carolinas, Branson, MO and at their timeshare in Las Vegas. Beverly truly lived a full, happy life, loved by her family and surrounded by friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Elcor Nursing Home for their loving care. Relatives and friends may visit with family and pay their respects to Beverly at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. I remember Beverly's beautiful hair and longed to have her curls/waves when we were children. She had quick intelligence and sharp wit. I have a couple of pictures of Beverly from prior Cram Family Reunions with her husband, Shotty, and one reunion with her children/their families. Thank you for allowing this way of remembering Beverly as we cannot come to her calling hours.
