Mrs Oliver (who made me call her Lorna) was one of the most special people to me when I was a preteen. The bus after school would drop me off outside her house and on Wednesdays or Fridays, I'd knock on the door before going home. She would always invite me in and serve me homemade lemonade more often than not. She made me feel like I was special, like I was good, and loveable, and that who I was was a good thing - at a time in my life where I'm not sure she knew how severely bullied I was being, or how alone I felt in the world. I didn't have family close by, not by blood, but I was so incredibly blessed to have her as part of my surrogate family in Longford.

I have not seen her in many years, and it's probably been six months since I've thought of her. But she was so incredibly good, and I was so pleased she got to have adventures and love new people even after so many hard cards had been dealt her. She was good, deserved good, and she was happy.
I love you Mrs Oliver (and I'll never manage Lorna, I'm sorry). And I hope and pray that you'll be part of my welcoming party in heaven. To her family, I cannot imagine the loss. May you grieve as you need, be loved, and supported.

Lorna thank you for your support through our early morning walks in Longford. It was a pleasure to share this time with you and I will never forget you. You truly are a beautiful soul. Love Fiona Yule (McDougall).
