Claude E. "Corky" Dake, Sr. peacefully passed away at his residence in Plaquemine, LA. on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the age of 86. He enjoyed fishing, boat riding, working in the yard, and traveling. Corky loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plaquemine. Corky proudly and courageously served his country in the United States Navy. He was retired as Control Room Supervisor from Gulf States Utilities/Entergy after 40 years of service. Corky is survived by his daughter, Patricia Cunningham and husband Dusty; son, Earl Dake and wife Debi; six grandchildren, Tonya Miller, Dustin Cunningham, Joshua Dake, Jeremy Dake, James Durbin, and Randall Durbin; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Dake and wife Joyce; and special friend, Sara Carrigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Leona Dake; loving wife, Gertie McClure Dake; daughter, Carolyn Durbin; two brothers, Edward and Clyde Dake; and grandson, Andrew Durbin. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 12 noon until service at 3 pm, officiated by Pastor Keith Horton. Interment to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Earl Dake, Dustin Cunningham, Casey Miller, Joshua Dake, Jeremy Dake, and Keith Dake. Honorary pallbearers are Brody Miller, Waylon Dake, Dusty Cunningham, Konnor Smith, and Blake Miller.
