What a shocker! Mark and I took an A&P class together, and then I got to know him as a Paramedic who would come to pick up patients @ Pennington Cancer Center Inpatient unit. He was extremely smart, and always so kind! So sorry to have read of his death. Rest in peace, Mark
Uncle Mark-O, we met only one time in my life, and even at my young age, I could tell you were a great, caring, individual. You made me proud to be a part of your family immediately, and you did a great job of making us feel welcome. I remember you un-begrudgingly driving me and my two brothers, for who knows how long, to the closest arcade you could find, which turned out to be hours away, just because we said we wanted to go. That was quite a ride back! It was obvious you were always so giving of yourself. Time and distance have parted us since then but you were never far from my thoughts. Fair winds and following seas Uncle Mark-O, I have missed my chance to know you the way I would have liked, but you have touched the lives of others and will not be forgotten. My gratitude to the Sharkeys for providing me this opportunity to say goodbye.
A Faithful Friend is a sturdy Shelter, he who finds one finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth. Sirach 6:14-15
Mark was truly a faithful friend to me and I to him, I will miss you!!!!!!
It has been a Pleasure, Honor, and Priviledge, to serve on the board of LANREMT (La Assoc of Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technicians). Your knowledge and humor helped make the LONG boring meetings bearable. If it hadnt been for your enduring action of being web master and guru, there would be a lot of medics without the knowledge of what LANREMT was up to. Go forth in peace and REST EASY my Brother, gone but never forgotten! DING !
To the family you are in my prayers.
Mac, what a great honor it has been to know you. Meeting you at MBA school (only one of your many academic pursuits), your visit to Florida, talking politics and sports with Mukul, laughing at your stories and wry observations. Sending wildlife magazines and posters to my kids - and always bringing them a preposterous assortment of “shark” gag gifts for years on end - who does that? Who? A one and only, my friend - A HUGE-HEARTED bigger than life kind of guy! You will be missed!
Mac was a wonderful person with a heart of gold! He was dedicated to prehospital care, very intelligent individual, gifted writer, a member of Capital area EMT association and Louisiana Association of Nationally Registered EMTs, most of all he was a friend and co-worker. Being one of his supervisors some don't know every major holiday I would get a phone call from Mac. He would volunteer to take anyone's shift that wanted to be home with their family to just let him know. Can't stand the thought of not being able to have another conversation with you at work. I can just hear you fussing at all of us for feeling so sad, rest assured we will never forget you. RIP Mac!
I was fortunate to be one of the friends Mac made while at Ole Miss, and we kept in touch periodically through the years. His wit, intelligence, and kind spirit will always keep him in my heart. Words truly cannot express my gratitude for Mac and for his influence in my life. His family and friends have my deepest sympathy in their loss.
I am deeply saddened about the sudden passing of Mark. I never worked beside him, but I work in the Baton Rouge maintenance shop for Acadian Ambulance. It was a great pleasure to meet Mark and see him every once in a while, whether it was in the shop or on the road. He was a real nice fellow and he always joked around, and was always very cheerful,I never saw him in a bad mood. He had a really big heart, and will be truly missed by all that knew him. R.I.P. big MAC!
I never had the pleasure of meeting "mac" but he was a dear friend of my fiance. The great funny stories about him from his friends & co workers tell me that heaven has gained a true angel! My prayers go out to his family & friends..RIP

Your light will always shine down on us!! You will be missed!!
My Brother in Law. I loved him as a Brother! As the years flew by, I only wished I could have stayed in closer contact, but Mark taught me a lot, about Business, and how to play the political game! I pray he is in the presence of those he treasured the most. His Mom and Grandma Gingy! Love you Mark "O". .. Lane "O"
Hey big guy I'm gonna miss hearing you say hey kiddo down the hallway at BR central.....you will be truely missed!!! Luv ya big guy
I've only had the pleasure to work with you a few times and had the chance to chat with you a the station quite a few, you honestly touched my heart and left me with a greater sense of self and greater knowledge. Thank you Mark. I've truely never met a more caring, helpful person. I will NEVER forget you. Thanks again for the stethoscope, that I didn't even ask for. RIP my friend.
Mark it is with heav heart to hear of your death. You had large braod shoulders to listen to whatever anybody had to say. You were a very good person in life and someone who I could call friend and a great coworker. You will be missed my friend.
Mac, you were an amazing person and we will always remember your compassion for your coworkers and who ever needed it. You will truly be missed!
You were, without a doubt, the best natured soul I have ever came across. You always brought out the best in people and made light of every situation. I have always enjoyed our talks and coffee visits together. You will be sorely missed by all the lives that you have touched. I am very proud to have known you and will miss you. Rest in peace my friend.
I never know what to write. Mac I will miss you. I wanted to be at your service but someone has to be at third base to take care of the fans who get sick. I'm going to miss everything about you, but I know you will be enjoying the game from heaven. Your lil Cubano
Although I did not know you well I know you had a heart of gold. And you were great at your job, may you rest in peace my friend.
Mark, I always enjoyed talking with you while holding "on the wall". You will be missed. Praying for all those hurting from your passing.
Precious Mac, there are no words to convey the heartbreak felt in your passing. I will always remember our chats, your hugs and your wisdom that you never hesitated to share. We've lost an amazing person, but heaven has gained the most deserving angel. Love you kiddo!
To Mark's family.
I had the privilege to work and get to know Mark. He came into work during my shift. I looked forward to that Subaru driving in and him putting all his gadgets on at the back. When I walked up he always had a big smile and would say"June Bug". We would talk awhile then get back to work. He liked to go to the shooting range and shoot his very old pistols. I tell you this because I left the company and Mark stayed in touch. Most medics have stories like this. He was a person that you were always glad to see. Our hearts are heavy and will be for a long time. Family is not always blood.
The absence of your presence is felt. I am glad to have been able to call you friend and coworker. Anchors away my friend. I will miss you.
Oh how you are missed! My friend, I hope you know just how much you were loved, how much you were respected, and how you touched so many lives with your simple way. I will always think of you while enjoying a bag of coconut M&M's, or when I find a bargain I know you could appreciate. Rest easy! We love you and will always treasure your memory.
It is with great sadness that I am writing this. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I came to know Mark through my job with Acadian Ambulance. He was a wonderful co-worker who cared for his patients more that himself, always making sure they were comfortable and happy. He always had a smile and the wisdom that I gained from just knowing him I will use for my entire career. I am honored to have been no just a co-worker, but also just to call him a friend. We at Acadian have lost a vital asset from our company and one very special guy.You will be missed.
