I never met Mr. Cliburn, but I played piano as a child when he was beginning his career. He was always an inspiration to me and he made a difference in my life, even though he never knew it. I now teach music education at a university. I think that part of my world was molded by his life model. He will always be an inspiration.

First saw VanCliburn in concert at The Saratoga Performing Arts Center in the early 60's.....a marvelous gentleman with so much talent. I dont think the world will ever realize his contributions to our relationships with Russia or his talents for the Performing Arts. We have lost a true gem. My Sympathy to his family and friends.

Such a great loss. Van Cliburn was my inspiration; a joyful life with the piano. What a glorious Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 he played! God Bless you and your family.

Bless you, Van Cliburn, for being one of music's - and America's - biggest ambassadors. You will definitely be missed. My deepest sympathy for your family and closest friends. The musical community has lost a great musician, and we have all lost a beautiful man.

Van, your level of impeccable musicianship has inspired me since I was a child. Thank you for raising the bar for all pianists with your virtuosity. You will live on forever as one of the greatest pianists that ever lived! God bless!
