I just learned of the role that Father Mascherino played in memorializing the bravery of the Flight 93 Patriots from the below posted Federalist blog. Thank God for folks like Father Mascherino and the Flight 93 heroes.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Father Al. I always looked forward to talking with him when we visited the Chapel. He will be greatly missed by all!. I hope his work at the Chapel will be ongoing!!

I feel so blessed, and honored to have gotten the chance to meet Reverend Mascherino in Shanksville, PA while performing with the North Star Kids. To this day, he is the most selfless man I have ever met, and I feel inspired by him everyday. Reverend Mascherino left behind a beautiful legacy - the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel - and his light will continue to shine over the chapel, and all who enter. Rest in Peace.

Do not be afraid I am with you
I have called you each by name

The entire McDermott family is saddened. We met Fr Al in 1984 and he became a great friend. We all lost contact over the years but reconnected last year hearing about the Chapel. It was like those years had never passed. Rest peacefully friend.
