Dear Jenni I have just found out this morning about Deidre's passing and offer my sincerest sympathies to you and the family. She was all of the things outline in the obituary and more- a very inspirational role model to so many. I have very fond memorires of working with Deidre, sharing her wonderful hospitality , humour and commitment to equality. Yours was a loving, caring, happy relationship and partnership and I can only imagine the pain of your loss. She was loved by many and her legacy lives on.

Deirdre will be remembered by many around inner Melbourne, and particularly in Fitzroy, where she was a progressive local government Councillor in the 1980s.
She played an important role in the establishment of a secure broadcasting base for Community Radio 3CR, through the 21-23 Smith St Unit Trust. The Trust offered a means for supporters of community and public broadcasting to give tangible financial support to own and renovate the studios, which are still in use by 3CR today. Community (not for profit) broadcasting would not be as firmly established today without Deirdre's commitment and support for this project.
