It was 1977 in London that I first met this one-off wonderful guy. I was in a play he wrote that we performed at Australia House. Years later I would often joke with him that I couldn't remember much about the play, except that there was a refrigerator in it. He loved such put-downs. Frank was a witness at my wedding to Kyoko in Brisbane in 2003. Since my moving to Japan that same year, though he possessed no actual mobile phone, he always went to the trouble of phoning me every three months via a pre-paid computer phone card. We would hit each other with one-liners and 'take the mickey' until finally the beep-beep-beep warning would come... and he'd be gone, having disappeared into the ether.
Frank was intelligent to a tee but as humble and down-to-earth as any person could be. I've just today made a list of all the funny incidents that occurred between us over these forty years... And I've run out of paper!!
Dear Franko (as I used to call him) you brought a tear to my eye today upon hearing of your passing. Though hemispheres apart, you always had me on your to-do list. I'm eternally grateful. Rest in Peace. My sincere condolences to friends and family. We've all lost a good'un!

I shall miss our get togethers every three weeks or so, for a glass of wine at University House. Frank was a great character and an old fashioned gentleman. We shared many interests, including a mutual contempt for mobile phones! Frank was a true scholar, who spent his time researching (of late) the history of Hong Kong cinema. Hopefully someone is able to take up where he left off. My sympathy to his family. Sorry I will not be in Melbourne for his send off at La Mama.

In memory of dear Frank. An actor, scholar and author with a gentle demeanor, possessing an intelligent and witty mind. I was proud to call him my cousin.
He still had much to offer in his diligent research of the history of film making. May his work live on and continue.
My sympathy to Frank's family, especially my cousin in law Jocelyn who did so much! Farewell Cuz with the Fuzz. Much love, Joy
