Someone so special as Mr McClusky cannot be forgotten, wonderful memories will live on forever. He was a great boss and mentor to me, always patient, supportive and led by example. He was an exceptional lawyer, with great empathy for his clients. My heartfelt condolences to Mrs McClusky, Jo, Michael, Edwina, John jnr and all the family.

I'm very sorry to hear of John's death. I only heard of it this evening (Wednesday) and I very much regret that I can't be present at his Requiem Mass tomorrow to honour and give thanks for his life. He was a great supporter and a very generous benefactor of the Carmelites. He was of great assistance to me in a number of legal matters when I was previously Provincial and I am very much aware of the long friendship he and Aileen and family enjoyed with the late Frank Shortis. I had the greatest regard for and appreciation of John. I met him and Aileen a number of times of more recent years and he always greeted me with his typical unassuming, genuine and friendly demeanour. I am aware that he helped many, many people over his lifetime. I will commend him to the prayers of the Carmelites. On their behalf, as well as on my own, I offer sincere condolences to Aileen and the family. May this very good man rest in peace.

The very sad news has just reached me many many miles away. Mr McClusky was always the smartest dressed man in the room and well respected. I remember his sense of humour. I came into work one day with an injured hand after falliing over on the bus (due to a car pulling out) and he greeted me with "one too many sherries hey Beverley?". It was 9am!

Sending my deepest sympathy to his family.

A great man who made a huge difference to my life. The world is a better place for his having been in it and a lesser place now that he is gone.
