Patrick was an inspiration to me. I often went and visited him and heard about his amazing life. His brain and memory was sharp.

It is hard to believe so many months have passed.

I enjoyed my visits and I think he enjoyed my companionship as he lived alone in his 2 storey home for many years after his wife, Mary, died.

With my English background we were never short of memories and stories to share. He was a great raconteur and had a good sense of humour.

Despite his age of 98 years he would stand for periods of more than an hour despite my suggestions he might be more comfortable seated.

He was still driving his car, without any sign of accidental damage and used it regularly to go to the shops.

He was an example to members and guests at the Ranelagh Club in Mount Eliza where he was a long term member and a tennis player until about 4 years before he passed.

Many people attended the Ranelagh Club on 13 November 2017 to share their memories of this lovely gentleman. I really miss him.
