Russell served with distinction as Chairman of the Australian Payments Clearing Association from 2008 to 2013 (now AusPayNet). He was a true gentleman, a skilled Chairman and a mentor to the CEO, the directors who served with him and staff. Russell's contribution to the work of our company was invaluable. He helped to navigate us through many challenges culminating in significant governance reform. As Board and Company Secretary, I worked closely with Russell and appreciated his wise counsel and guidance.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his wife Alison and their family.

Our Program at ANZ was in turmoil when Russell was appointed Program Director. I remember him introducing himself to the very large project team and his strong character and inspirational words had all the staff forever viewing him with respect for not only a great leader but a true gentleman. I was blessed to have had weekly one on one meetings with him and he taught me so much over those couple of years and we had a lot of laughs before he would raise his fist and tell me to get back to the battle.
My sympathy to his greatly loved wife and family.
