I was looking up Westside Junior High School and saw Mr. Nixon's name. I then googled him and saw this. My thoughts are with his family. I came to Little Rock from Minneapolis Minnesota as my mother had passed. I was chosen to go to Westside as I was Black, "chosen". One day a white boy called me the "n" word, as I was from the north I never heard this. We ended up fighting and he was going to push me down a long flight of stairs, which I am sure I would have either died or been severely injured. Mr. Nixon, one of the very few white teachers that cared what the blacks were subjected to by the teachers and students pulled him off me. I never ever forgot this and still remember this event 50 years later or rather have nightmares (smile). He was a good man.

I miss you so much papa!! It's hard to wake up everyday knowing that I cannot call you or come to spend time with my best friend!! I will never stop trying to be the man that you raised me to be. I will do my best to carry your legacy and great name!! Although, I feel lost many times a day, I always know you are here to guide me and hear my cries, struggles, and hardships. I know you are in Heaven looking down on me!! I love you so much!! You are truly the greatest man I will ever know!! Your Grandson

Hoping you will have the strength and blesssings from above to help you cope with the loss of your loved one. Don was a great guy, Rotarian-recruiting volunteers for Salvation Army, etc and he will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to the family for the loss of your dear loved one. May you find peace and comfort in Psalms 65:2. Again my deepest sympathy.
