Dear Jimmy, Steve, Mike, and Family,
Please accept our sympathy on the passing of your father.
As First Selectman, he undoubtedly made the greatest impact on the development of Stonington, Mystic, and Pawcatuck during his twelve terms.

It was my pleasure to have worked with each of you, and it was "easy" to have you in my classes. From what I have always heard about Jim Spellman I think he must have been responsible for the people you have each become....a positive addition to your community. He served in many ways, in many places and never have I heard a criticism from anyone. That is quite an achievement for a person so involved in local politics and issues. I heard so many complimentary remarks that it made me wish that I had the opportunity to know Jim Spellman better. But I did get to know some of his grandchilren and my life was enriched because of those contacts. Thank you to each of you.
May your memories of this special man make you all stronger, and may your tribute to him be a life as unselfish in the service for others as his was.
My thoughts, condolences and well wishes for each of you and your families,
Love, Ellie Banker
Our condolences to his family.......Jim was a great, dedicated community servant! God Bless....
