Danny, you gave so much to so many. i dont want to think about where i would be with out your help. you had faith in me that i didnt even have in myself. you made it possible for me to get clean and stay that way, you gave me a safe haven through my pregnancy and then after the birth of my son Matthew Daniel (i didn't want to forget where i came from and who made it possible for me to stay with my son so Daniel seemed like a good choice for a middle name!) you gave us a safe place for me to learn to be a great (sober) mother. you were tough when i needed it but always supportive. thanks for devoting your life to the 12th step. truly grateful for everyday i have in sobriety. its been 5 years and I'm married now and have another son and a teenage stepson. my life is nothing like i ever could have imagined for myself when i landed on the steps of the abc club, pregnant and facing 3 years in prison. your belief that this program would work for me kept me out of jail. i know I'mI'm just one of many addicts and alcoholics who you have done the same for. but to my children and my family, I'm the only one who matters. you worked many miracles in so many lives and have given so many families back loved ones whom they thought were lost for good. so "thank you" just doesn't seem to say enough, but ill say it anyways. thank you danny. your legacy is living through every life you touched.

It was an honor to know you and share a couple of your AA birthdays with you. You will be deeply missed.

Danny, Your ability to impart a program of recovery to alcoholics, addicts, convicts, innocents, troublemakers, manipulators, men, women, old, young, seasoned, green, first-timers and re-treads alike is unlike any other. Nobody could do what you did. You saved so many lives but most of all you've made life worth living not only for us but our most cherished loved ones. That's what I'm so grateful for. Still, Grateful to be here, Danny. Love you and thank you.

Danny Leahy was an amazing human being that we are lucky have had on this planet. He was a heart-felt, driving force in bringing so much sobriety to the world. Because of Danny there are thousands of sober, happier people - not to mention those people's families. My dad and stepmother, Ed and Albertine Roed loved and respected Danny and Helen dearly. I am so honored to have known Danny and will always treasure his memory and the "tremendous" work he devoted his life to.
