I originally was looking for the obit of an old friend in the archives here on the DS, and came across this one for Mrs. Gardner. I am so sorry am so late in learning of her passing, but I'm glad I still have the opportunity to post... Mrs. Gardner, you were THEE best English teacher at PSHS, and you truly kept me engulfed in class with your teaching style. We read Macbeth once, and I loved the way you explained what was going on in a way we could understand (Shakespheare was sometimes hard to decipher!). And it was a blast. Thanks Mrs. Gardner. You were the best. Kudos to PSHS for putting a well deserved teacher in the Hall of Fame. Rest in peace Mrs. Gardner, you were truly one of a kind.

S0 Sorry Art! Your Mom was one of the best teachers I ever had. Take solace with all the lives she touched in such a positive way. We all should be so lucky to make a real difference in so many lives. God bless ! Mike

Much has been said in this Guest Book about Mrs. Gardner's wonderful teaching, and her lasting influence on her many students. I had the double honor of having my two children in her classes and of being her colleague on the teaching staff at Palm Springs High School for many years. Doris was a major fan of my choirs and never failed to attend our campus concerts. She told me every year, following our Sounds of the Season holiday concert, "Now my Christmas season can begin!" Her support of our students extended far beyond her classroom, spreading across the campus and into the community.
On behalf of Eden, H.O., my wife Patty and myself, God bless Doris Gardner, as she has blessed many others, and keep her always in His care.

I count myself lucky to have had Mrs. Gardner as my English Lit teacher in high school. She was one of my favorite teachers. Like so many of her hundreds of students I can still remember the beginning lines of the Canterbury tales. While I will be unable to attend this evening I will be there in spirit. I am thankful that Mrs. Gardner was one of the great teachers in my life. She will be missed.

In my book, Doris Gardner was a Master Teacher. I would often visit her classroom just to observe her teaching. Her students were very fortunate to have experienced time in her class, not only learning English Literature, but having such a wonderful person as a role model. Her demeanor and dedication to her students were special. We will truly miss Doris, and thank God that we were able to have been a friend for so many years. Our condolences to her wonderful family.

Mrs. Gardner was by far one of the best teachers I have ever had (including college and grad school). She was an inspiration and one of the kindest souls I have every met.

Doris was a very special colleague and friend. Her dedication to her students and to her profession made her an outstanding educator. She was a professional in every sense of the word. Rest in peace, Doris.
