I spent 18 years on the DWA Board with Gillar and have many fond memories. He did a lot for the people of the valley, and many of those things he spearheaded are just now being recognized for their importance.
Anyone who went out to dinner with Gillar knew you better hide your dessert as he was notorious for sneaking a taste when you weren't looking. My daughter loved to sit with him when she was little.
Palm Springs lost one of the good ones.
