Ignacio Hernandez, 84, of Palm Desert, CA passed away on August 15, 2017. He was born on March 20, 1933 to Mario and Rafaela Hernandez in Niland, CA.
Ignacio affectionately known by his friends as Nacho, was proud of his military service in the United States Army starting in 1954.
Nacho began his working career at Cal Date in Indio. It was there he met the love of his life Jessie Sandoval. Realizing he had met his soulmate, he proposed and they were married in 1957. Ishmael and Mary Andrade served as the best man and maid of honor for their wedding.
On December 8, he celebrated 59 years of wedded bliss marriage to his beloved honey pie, Jessie.
In 1962 he became a heavy equipment operator for the County of Riverside Transportation Department. He worked there for 33 years until his retirement in 1995.
Nacho is fondly remembered for his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and always see the best in those he knew and met. His motto was "play it cool" no matter the situation.
He is survived by his sister Olivia Martinez of Indio CA and Bernie Hernandez of Yucca Valley CA.
Nacho leaves behind his wife Jessie Hernandez of Palm Desert and sons Derrick Hernandez of Palm Desert and Randy Hernandez of Dublin CA.
A family man to the core, Dad was a devoted husband and father. He will be especially remembered as our hero, guiding star and the captain of our ship.
