Jim, Today is my birthday, and I'm so sad that you are not here in person to celebrate it with me. It was even sadder on your birthday a month ago when I spoke to you all day, and I knew you heard me, but I could not see you. You are still forever in my heart and my greatest love I have ever known. Your kindness that you have taught me I have passed on to others and it is in doing for others that makes me happiest. You taught me this by your life example...your legacy you left that still serves others.
I keep your "shrine" in our home and I honor you with the way I live my life..thank you for inspiring me. I love you and I know I will be with you again in the next realm of eternity.
Love, Mack xoxoxoxo

I graduated from Ball State with Jim in 1972. We moved to Ft Myers Beach a year later. At the time I didn't know Jim well but had been told to be sure to contact him. I'm glad I did. He was very helpful. We ended up moving into the same small complex he lived in near the beach. During our time there we became good friends. Jim was even Godfather to our daughter Alexa. Sadly after Jim returned to Indiana we lost touch. I just got word of his passing yesterday through the Ball State alumnus publication. So sorry to hear...May God bless and strengthen those who were close to him.

Jim and I were coworkers at the LACOE Head Start office. He was so professional and smart and funny. Regrettably I lost touch with him when I left Head Start. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing; he was a true gentleman and scholar. The world has lost a little light and gained an angel.

Today I was fortunate to attend your celebration of life and I felt so humble knowing that I was blessed to know you and learn from you. I will never forget the times we spent together and the laughter we shared. I will also hold close to my heart the conversations we shared about spirituality and keeping a positive attitude. Thank you for being a champion for Head Start children and families. We can be more at peace knowing that you are still here watching over those in need. Thank you for the wonderful memories, the laughter, and the fun we shared together.
Gracias amigo.

Jim, I miss you, especially when I am working on the east valley health promotion programs we worked on together for about 20 years. The community will benefit from your efforts for generations to come.
To Mack, You were a true blessing in Jim's life on this planet, and are appreciated more than you know.
I will always love Jim, who was always there to say and work hard towards accomplishing the highest and most honorable good .

I'm truly honored to have known Jim. When I say he was the kindest person I have ever known... it is said with absolute sincerity and authenticity. He was an amazing person. Spending time with Jim and Mack was one of my greatest pleasures. I will always treasure those wonderful times. I saw the amazing influence his love for Mack produced...not only on Mack...but on me as an onlooker. Jim was a class act. I have cried and cried...sometimes in sadness that he 's no longer here...sometimes in joy that he has found peace...and sometimes because his love continues to shine. I adored him.

To a most wonderful man with whom I had the pleasure of meeting but once. His spirit shone like a blazing sun. I know how much he meant to those he touched and loved. May they remember the lessons he taught them, and be able to carry on his philosophy, without hiding it in grief.

To Mack and the rest of Jim's family, my deepest sympathy to one of the most wonderful people I ever met. Jim was my boss when I started work in the Office of Special Ed. in /Washington DC in the late 80's. Bright, charming, well dressed and always welcoming. A true gentleman with a great sense of humor and a heart way too big for his 6'4" frame. You set the bar way high, boy! You made life a better place for countless people. Keep a watch over us all. I love you.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

Jim holds a special place in my heart and always will. I mourn his transition, but I know he feels no pain. Jim was a caring, loving and vibrant man. I love him. David
