I have wondered, "What does it take to be
a World War II combat soldier who rose to the rank of General; who became a physician beloved by his community; who cared for the needy in third world countries including for Mother Teresa; who became an Iron Man."
I have wondered, "What does it take to be loved, appreciated and admired by us who were blessed to be touched by him?"
It seemed to take a quality, a greatness, of character amd spirit which transcended even all of his accomplishments.

I remember Dr Parkinson as the only physician I visited from my earliest memories until leaving the desert after high school in 1970. While I never looked forward to visiting him, he always made the trips as painless as possible. As a former high school and college runner, I still remember hearing about his successful triathalon exploits and being very proud to have known him.

Sincerely
