Dear Matt,
I just watched the music video of your dad--I wish I could have been there in person to honor his life with you all. He must have been a man of honor, and I can only imagine what the past two months have been like for you. Know that somewhere in California, your friend from Kansas is thinking of you. Love,
Lindsay (Walter) Hendricks

Dear Diane, Matt, & Grant,

I only recently became aware of this tributary website, but wanted to echo the countless expressions of admiration for your husband and dad.

Mike was a truly a man in pursuit of the "two eternal things", and his legacy lives on not only through his family, but through the transformed lives of countless floundering, questioning college students whom he gently but passionately guided to the One with the directions and answers. Thank you, Diane, Matt, and Grant, for sharing him with doing so you have changed the lives of more families and generations than you will know this side of Heaven.

Our prayers are with all of you; we will miss him too!

What a wonderful testimony to a father, husband, and laborer for the Lord. My thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

I was so shocked to learn of Mike's tragic death. My heart is truely saddened but his memory will always live vividly in the minds of those whose lives he touched. His love of the lord and those the lord sent to him was never pushy or overwhelming but always in quiet strength.

I will always be grateful for the four years that I served as an
associate director of the Aggie BSU during Mike's tenure.
He was one of the five men that God most used to mold my life. As a
fresh graduate of seminary, I needed mentoring, training and challenge
and Mike provided these.
He also encouraged me, believed in me and taught me by his own life. He
was generous, bold, visionary and focused. He was also gracious,
compassionate and tender-hearted. He finished well and I'm thankful for
his example. '89-'93

Dear Diane and Family,
I received the news, this past week, of Mike's passing on to be with our Lord. Though I find a profound comfort in knowing where Mike is, I join so many others in sharing my deepest sympathy for the lost that you are feeling. I want you to know that I am making a personal commitment to stop whatever I am doing and to pray as God brings you to my mind. As I was trying to sleep tonight, I continued to see both yours and Mike's faces, so I got up to send you this note and let you know that you are truly in my heart and prayers.
Trusting God in All Things,

Mike had the greatest impact of any human on my life. He of course taught me the two eternal things but I was fortunate enough to be on the leadership board at the BSM and work with Mike directly. He never allowed me to take the easy course or give an easy answer. He initiated my scripture memory program and challenged me to just trust in God for my strength and watch God do amazing things through me. I never saw myself as a leader but Mike put me on the board and the initial executive board of the former students board. I have done many things in leadership positions in the church and in society and I can trace that back to the belief Mike showed in me and the foundation in Christ that he helped me build. Fortunately, I had a chance to tell Mike directly a few years ago what impact he made in my life. Class of '84

I am so sad to hear this news about Mike. May his memory continue to live on through the many lives that he has touched. God's blessings to his wife and family.

Wow! It is hard to believe that Mike has gone to be with the Lord. My heart goes out to his family.

I came to the BSU in 82 unchurch, lost and needing a Savior. The one thing that I remember about Mike is that he was the first grown man I had ever met that wanted to make God famous. I had never been anyone like him. He was funny, insightful and honoring of his Heavenly Father. And he was proud of his boys. I will never forget sitting a the noon bible study being told this toddler named Matt was smarter than me and somehow he fit that into a bible study that reminded me of how much God loved his Son but that He thought I was worth sending Jesus to die for me. He did not do everything right or have all the answers, but he loved Jesus and it showed. I came to know Jesus and even more, years later, my children came to know Jesus. It is with the impact that his discipleship made on my life, that impacted more than my generation. He walked the talk, he lived by those two rules, he invested in God's word and in men's souls. I am eternally grateful for his impact.

May God that will never leave you, walk you through this next year.
