EASLEY — CW03 Roy Warren Wood, US Army Retired 75, husband of Teresa "Tracey" Hamby Wood, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Born in Sparta, GA, he was a son of the late John Hubert Wood and Martha Elizabeth Hall Wood. He served 4 years in the US Marine Corp and retired following 18 years in the US Army. While in service, he was a Huey Helicopter Pilot. During his time of service, he received numerous awards including, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf clusters, US Army and US Marine Corp Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze star, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign, Master Army Aviator Badge, and Army Aviator Badge.
He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amanda Wood Burkett, John Brandon Frady (Holly), John Andrew Wood, Sierra Nikole Wood, and Brooklynne McKenzie "Brooke" Wood; brothers, Reginald Kay "Red" Wood and James Richard "Ricky" Wood; and granddaughter on the way, Charlotte Grace Wood.
He was predeceased by sisters, Linda Lou Little and Lucile Elaine Scribner; and brothers, Cecil Jerry Wood, John Hubert Wood Jr., and Harold Eugene Wood.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, from 12:00 until 1:45 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the service to follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel with military honors.
Friends are welcome to come by the home and visit anytime this week prior to the service.
