Its International Women's Day & I wanted to think of & thank an inspiring woman beyond my Mother , who has influenced me positively during my years growing up in Lake Macquarie . I thought immediately of Dulcie Hartley . She may not have even realised how much I cherished her efforts & collations of information & anecdotes. I searched & came across this sad recent news . Bless you Dulcie you gave so much to our rich history heritage & community . I hope you are rewarded well . x

I have a yellowed article (Lake Macquarie News 24.4.2002, page 2) from Dulcie Hartley. After all these years I tried to make contact with this wonderful historian but found out she passed away only a few weeks ago. The article was about John Burnage who commanded my Grandfathers' (Joseph Banney)13th Battalion @ Gallipoli. Thanks to this wonderful lady i now have another welcome piece in the jigsaw puzzle that is my Grandfather's life. Walter Mark Quealy
