Many many would feel the same they just wouldn't think he could ever depart.Today just out of the blue I was quoting T S Eliot to a friend and thought I'd look him up.

Victor Emeljanow was a remarkable human being. I knew him when he was Professor of Drama at the University of Newcastle during my Master of Theatre Arts degree studies in 1992 and 1993. He was from the very first day that I met him quite extraordinary, kind and learned. I admired him for his patience and generosity. He was a wonderful and inspiring teacher and mentor. I had the privilege of Victor's wisdom as a supervisor when I directed 'Agnes of God'. I am profoundly grateful to this day. The University of Newcastle was indeed fortunate to have him on staff. On the day of my graduation he was so incredibly supportive and genuinely thrilled for me. He never ceased to be anything else. My heart goes out to his family. I shall never forget him. Vale dear Victor. Dr. David J. Logan.

I had the pleasure of knowing and being taught by Victor in the years 1970,71 and 72 at the School of Drama, University of NSW.
He was a very thoughtful, accessible and considerate man. These traits carried over to his teaching. He was enthusiastic for all of us to enjoy Drama and to do well in whatever field we were destined for.
I didn't realize(at the time) that he was only 13 years older than I was... Not because he looked older (he certainly didn't..I assumed he had discovered the Fountain of Youth) but because he always seemed so mature and worldly. He always had time for us.
He was a wonderful man.
