Dear Ann and family,

There are so many things to say about Alan's long and fruitful life. One only has to talk, even for a moment, with colleagues, students, family and friends to know just how much this special man meant to so many people, young and old alike.

We met Alan often on the path around Beebe Lake and he always wanted to stop and chat about different things. What we recall most is how fondly he talked of you, Ann, and it was so obvious how much he loved you -- so beautiful.

The world is blessed with a few true gentlemen and Alan was one of them. He will be sorely missed.

Our deepest condolences.

Dearest Ann, I am so sorry to hear of Alan's passing. I hope you find comfort hearing from the many people whose lives he touched so deeply. I count myself among those so enriched. His passion for his work and for his students was only surpassed by his love for you and his family. He always described you as a saint for putting up with him and when he talked about you it was with love and admiration and a glint in his eye. I will miss seeing him in the halls of Sage and I will never forget him.

To The McAdams Family:

I'd like to extend my sincerest condolences to your family. Professor McAdams made a most profound impression upon me as an MBA student. I still maintain many of his recorded lectures from a Management Consulting class. In addition, I was fortunate enough to introduce my wife Dannye to Professor McAdams at a recent Alumni event at the Johnson School. I will miss Professor McAdams for his wonderful insight and thought provoking lectures.

Kind Regards,
Tony Riley

Dr. McAdams was a major influence in my turn to University teaching, 20 years after graduating from the Johnson School. Among a community of excellent teachers and advisers at Cornell, he was the tops.

His brilliant analyses, and ability to apply theory to the 'real world' influenced me throughout my career, from consulting to marketing to teaching.

As a teacher, we all hope to be remembered like Dr. McAdams, a great influencer of young minds. His success is not just what he accomplished, which is immense, but also what his students accomplished, and what they became as citizens of the World.

In these regards, Dr. McAdams' legacy has an embarrassment of riches.

I am the better from your instruction, Dr. McAdams.

I've stared at this screen long enough… There just aren't words that define a moment let alone a life so tirelessly fought. The achievements have been noted, and the accolades will continue, but it was in his losses he rose to his greatest heights. It was in times of difficulty, personal tragedy, and hardship that his efforts should be measured, for it was in adversity his courage was shown, and in his grief his perseverance excelled. So who are we mourning but ourselves, surely not someone who has kept the faith, and fought the good fight. It is a time to reflect with admiration and now joy, as we imagine the boy running to welcome his dad.
