About 7-10 members of the Class of '62 have gotten together for monthly lunches since 2000. They started as planning meetings for class reunions, and we know how Ann loved gatherings, so then we looked forward to this time together to catch up on a monthly basis. We always met at 12:30pm, because Ann was always volunteering at one of her many venues, so couldn't get there until then.
Ann was in tune with the things her friends were dealing with, and was happy to talk with any personally if we wished. She was not afraid to give her opinion at a restaurant, but was quick to compliment a waiter who she thought was doing a good job. She enjoyed greeting her previous students if they came by.
Ann and Kenny began a tradition of hosting a Class of '62 Cocktail Party at their home during each 4-year reunion. Ann continued that tradition right through last summer, when our Class of '62 celebrated our 50th Reunion. We would all crowd around for a group picture -- and she kept all those photos in albums for all to see when they returned. She was the glue that held us together.
As one of our lunch bunch said, "I will certainly miss Ann. When we were together, I never felt like I was wasting my time. She was and is my friend. I know her family will go through the grief and mourning stages -- and I know they will get through it. When they remember Ann, it will be with laughter in their hearts -- a celebration of her life."
