ROCK HILL – Mr. Crawford Hill King, 63, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the Wayne T. Patrice Hospice House after a brief illness.
Born in Panama City Fla., Mr. King was a son of the late C. Lindsey King and the late Thelma Hill King. Crawford attended The Citadel and later served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was an instructor at York Technical College.
He received his associate degree from York Technical College and graduated with both a bachelor's and master's degree in history from Winthrop University. Although he had Parkinson's disease for many years, he led an active life. His loves included history, the Zodiac Dance Club, Cracker Barrel, Braves baseball, WWF wrestling and NASCAR racing. He was also an avid writer.
Surviving are his daughter, Christina Peace (Michael) of North Charleston; a daughter and son, Veronica and David King, both of Texas; two granddaughters, Hannah and Miriam; his grandson, Nathan; his siblings, John T. King (Shirley) of Rock Hill, Helen Evans of Columbia and Sally Hartgrove (Forrest) of Rock Hill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles King Jr. (Judy) of Lancaster.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life was held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. King's name to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731; or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at support.pdf.org.

Crawford was an inspiring person that led the Student Govt at York Tech and inspired me to do the same. I am saddened by his passing and my heart and prayers go to his family, which he loved very much.

I knew Crawford from the Charlotte Zodiac Dance Club and I admired his determination to get out on the dance floor regardless of how he felt. Sometimes you could tell he was in pain, but did not let that stop him. He will be greatly missed at the Zodiac dances. My thoughts and prayers are with his family through this trying time.
