Pennie,Mark and families,
I was so sorry about your loss. I will never forget your mom's beautiful smile and how she loved her family so much. I will always remember the cook outs on McGraw St. when we lived there. We had so much fun. God has her in Heaven now. But she will forever be your mom and your Guardian Angel. Love, Paula Markwell Griffith & Family
Mark and Pennie, God bless you and all your family and friends. Shirley and I talked at least every 3 months via phone and had great conversations. She was a member in my Brothers band where I started out playing rhythm, she sang some good classic country songs and we all loved her. Hope you received a copy of the picture I sent with her pictured in the band. I've got to say that Shirley would tell it like it is. We dated a couple times back in the day and both figured out quickly that we were more like Bro and Sis. She told me it was like kissing a mop and right then is when we decided FRIENDS would be enough for us. I always admired Shirley and will cherish the memories.....A friend always Wynn Goodwin
What a wonderful lady she will be miss
Was a beautiful service. Going to miss her. Praying for all your family
Penny we are so sorry for your loss. We loved Mrs. Shirley very much. She kept us laughing every time we were with her. The kids said to tell you they love you bunches and we all wish we could've been there. Let us know if you need anything. Praying for you April and the rest of the family!

Penny & Mark, When I left that funeral home yesterday, I thought my heart would burst with grief. Shirley meant so much to so many, as was evident in the faces of everyone there. I have thought of so many wonderful times with her at the diner. She was definitely one of a kind and will live in our hearts forever. If there is any one thing I can say I am grateful for, it is the priviledge of knowing her and knowing that she is now up there on my side. Shirley, I love you and you will never be forgotten as long as I'm alive. You suffered and fought the good fight here on this earth and I have no doubt that you are playing that harp and dancing on streets of gold now. Watch over us down here as we continue to struggle in this old world and jerk a knot in our butts from time to time if we need it. LOL I love you always dear friend!
May Peace Love and Joy be with you all through this difficult time.God's Blessings to you all.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
Penny & Mark, my heart goes out to you. Thoughts and prayers for you both.

Penny I'm so sorry to hear this news about your mom. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I loved hearing her sing she had such a beautiful voice. She is no longer in pain anymore and she is now a Angel watching over her family that is still here on earth. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow.
We loved Shirley so much; she will be missed greatly. She was a great neighbor, loving friend, and wonderful person. The world was a better place because of her.
Shirley is now with Les and Patches.
To both Penny and Mark, while growing up you two were like my older sister and brother with the time spent at your mom's house during the summer time and all of the family get togethers with the Zellers and the Fowlkes families. Words can not express all of the emotions that I am feeling at the moment but I can still hear her calling me, " little Lecier". Love always, Lecia Fowlkes-Wallace-Dodd

Shirley was a beautiful person, both in her appearance and in her inner being. We were friends through high school and graduated together. She had a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor. She was our "Star" at W. T. Thomas High School in Cumberland City,TN before she ventured out into the world to showcase her talent and singing ability. I remember her meeting and falling in love with Les while we still in school. She was a special person and a friend to all who knew her. I'm glad I had that pleasure. My sincere sympathy goes out to her children and her extended family. May God grant you comfort in this time of sorrow.
Penny and Mark, I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your mother. Shirley and I graduated High School together. She always had a wonderful smile and kind words for everyone who met her. We met at our Reunion again last year and she was still the same.
I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with your families during this difficult time.
What a spirit Shirly was and will remain in my heart. I always admired her strength and confidence as a woman. She knew herself and not many people can say that. She left this world a great gift. I love you all!
