After retirement they spent their summers at home on Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, Maine and winters in Florida until relocating permanently to Davenport in 1997. Carl was recently awarded a 50 year service medal from the Grand Lodge of Maine for his dedication as a freemason and he loved playing cribbage with family and friends.
Carl was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Lee Burbank; his brother, Lucian Burbank; as well as his mother, Olive Kimball Leavitt. He is survived by his wife, Verna Burbank; sister, Lucille Melhorn of Kittery, Maine; daughter, Diane (husband, Tom) Morse of Severn, Maryland; daughter, Carol Bradshaw of Tucson, Arizona; daughter, Susan LaChance of Merritt Island, Florida; daughter, Lisa (husband, Jeffrey) Thibeault of Las Vegas, Nevada; as well as his stepdaughter, Lynda (husband, Dan) Flynn of Sebastian, Florida; and a stepson, Albert Ferrin, III of York, Maine. He was a true gentleman. We were neighbors in Florida when I was there and he looked after my trailer when I wasn’t. Had a lot of good times with him and Verna.

I will always remember Carl with great fondness. We spent several summers in Maine at Heavenlee Acres with Carl and Verna. Our Friday night poker games and endless rounds of cribbage are cherished memories, along with his suspenders and pipe! Heaven is lucky to have you! I surely will miss you.

I will always remember Mr. Burbank. Growing up in Kittery with his children and being a close friend of Sue's I got to see him often. He always had a smile and remembered my name. My heartfelt condolences to all of the family. Loosing a Dad is such a loss. We as children often go to Dad for comfort, help and answers to our questions in life. Sue know I love you and all your family. He is with the Lord and free of any pain. We will see him again. I love you! ❤
