My name is Allison and I worked closely with Mr. Earnie during his rehab. I was so very sad to hear about his passing. The time I was in contact with Mr. Castillo was short, but it didn't take long to know he was the kind of person who lit up a room when he entered. His stories, his kindness, the love he had for Mrs. Anne, his views on the world, his tenacity, and his passion for UNC basketball will continue to inspire me to live life to the fullest just as he did. My heart felt condolences and prayers are sent to his family and those close to him. The world truly lost a wonderful soul. Go Heels!

Dear Uncle Ernie...You were a kind and gentle soul. You treated John and I as your own. We will forever carry your funny stories in our hearts. Your photography inspired me at an early age and the knowledge of such was always changing and a learning experience for you. You gave John and I the critical information that we needed, to ensure a happy life in our retirement years. We miss and love you dearly, but know you are on a higher plain now, no longer burdened with failing health. We treasure our fond memories. We'll see you in every sunset and sunrise. Forever Our Love, Julie and John

I want to say what a sad thing to hear of Ernie's passing. He and I go back a long way in the Navy's SOSUS/IUSS program. We used to have a friendly verbal exchange as to which of us was older. He was 12 days younger than me and when October came around we would remind each other of that.
All of Ernie's Navy shipmates and friends are saddened by his lost.
May memories of happier days help ease the pain for Ernie's family. Rest in peace my friend. - Ed Smock OTCM USN (Ret).

Dear Anne and family, Susan and I grieve with you over the passing of Ernest. He was such a kind and decent man, a devoted husband and father and a true patriot. Words cannot express our sense of sorrow. He was such a great help to me when I worked on our LWHS Class of 58 reunion! I know he was totally devoted to you and his daughters and that he was deeply committed to his Lord! May you all find peace in your faith and in the beautiful memories of this one you love so dearly. Sending our love!
