LAKELAND - Charles "Ray" Massengale, 88, died November 16, 2012 at Life Care Center due to heart failure.
Mr. Massengale served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a supervisor for CF Industries and was of the Baptist faith. He was a devoted family man.
Mr. Massengale was preceded in death by his wife, Delpha Massengale; daughter, Iris Hallman and granddaughter, Debra Hammond.
He is survived by daughters, Gwen (David) Diefenderfer, Jean Hammond; grandchildren, Chuck Hammond, Ron Hammond, Marvi La Magna, Angie Hollowell, Paul Hollowell, Sherri Scott; 5 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 pm at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 830 N. Massachusetts St. Lakeland, FL 33801.

I too, became aquainted with Ray at CF Industries. He was a gentleman, and will be missed by those who worked with, or knew him..

I first met Ray in 1972 when I went to work with CF Industries. I worked with him until his retirement. Ray was a great guy with a unique sense of humor and I always considered him a friend.
