WINTER HAVEN - Mrs. Gertrude Lawson Meadows, age 97, died of heart failure Monday (April 22, 2013).
Born in Vienna, GA, on Jan. 12, 1916, she came to Winter Haven from Hawkinsville, GA, in 1946. She was a secretary for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, retiring in 1981. She was a chapter member of Beta Simja Phi, and a member of Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven.
Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, (married on 1/25/42), William Meadows on 12/29/05. She is survived by her sons William R. Meadows, Jr., Salisbury, MD, Robert L. Meadows, Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crisp-Coon Funeral Home, Winter Haven. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Parkland Baptist Church in Winter Haven. Burial will be in Rollins Hills Cemetery, Winter Haven.
