George SkipR. Dickervitz Sr. passed on to eternal rest on December 13,2017 after a long battle with
dementia. George was born and raised in Providence RI. to Anna (Mondell) and Anthony Dickervitz. In
1955 Skip married his best friend and his lifelong wife Clara Agresto-Dickervitz . Skip Relocated his
family to Stratford Ct. in 1963 and started his very successful career with Sikorsky Aircraft. Starting as
a machine operator, then soon to machine shop lead man and reached the position of assistant to the
vice president of purchasing.
A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Skip is survived by his wife Clara their Three
Sons, George R. Jr. and wife Elieen Dickervitz of Shelton Ct., Steven Dickervitz of Bradenton Fl., Eric
and wife Tanya Dickervitz of Stratford Ct. and his grandchildren. George R. Dickervitz III (Bobby),
Matthew and Becky Dickervitz, Niko Dickervitz and Nina Dickervitz.
George Sr. liked to play the violin and enjoyed boating and fishing in the Long Island Sound on his
boat the Little Witch.
Skip became an active member of Fayerweather Yacht Club in Black Rock Ct. and achieved the rank of
Rear Commodore. He also assisted, enjoyed, and participated in the annual Bishop and Brundage Cup
Predicted Log Race as well as volunteering his boat and time to Sea Scout Ship 110 of Black Rock Ct.
In 1985 , George Sr. designed the blueprints to build a new 22x24 garage at the home residence in
Stratford Ct. He manually dug and formed the concrete foundation and created an awesome garage
from a pile of delivered lumber.
George Sr. retired from Sikorsky UTC in 1994 and soon relocated to Lakeland Fl. with his wife Clara
and enjoyed several good years of retirement . The happiest times was when their grandchildren came
to visit.
As a child Skip used to ride his bike after school to work with his father in a machine shop, back in the
early 50.s. He used to get flat tires on the bicycle so he decided to layer a metal shim between the inner
tube and tire
