My heart is very saddened to hear of Dr. Barrett's passing. I first met him 17 years ago when I was pregnant with our son. I was very young, only 14 years old. Dr. Barrett treated me just the same as he did the 30 year old woman that was married and having her first baby. I will never forget the words he spoke to me over the 9 months I saw him. He was so uplifting and encouraging. Always told me that I was a smart girl and I would make a great mother. He had a conversation with my husband & I (then my boyfriend) and told us we could make this work if we just put our all into it. I delievered our son at 32 weeks, as Dr. Barrett was delievering Bryant he looked at me & said " Rosemary, If you dont finish school I will find you". He told me I was too smart of a girl to do like most young mothers. I have to honestly say his kind words encourged me to reach my goals. He was such a loving, compassionate man. He really cared. We trusted him so much, he cared for me & delievered 2 more of my children. He will be missed dearly. My prayers and thoughts go out to the family. I know this feeling all too well, my father passed away just 5 weeks ago. Stay strong!
