Our sympathy is with Dr. Barrett's family. Dr. Barrett was soft-spoken, kind, and reassuring. He delivered our son 8 years ago today, and I am thankful for the care he gave us.

I was referred to Dr. Barrett by my regular OBGYN for a high risk pregnancy. Initially, I was not happy because I love Dr. Schwartz, however, I must say she could not have referred me to a better, more kind or caring doctor. At my last post-partum appointment Dr. Barrett asked if I'd like to have another child and my response was yes, but I wasn't sure. He asked that I wait at least 2 years due to my complications, but to contact him the moment I found out I was pregnant, if that should happen. Well it will be 2 years in about a month and I've really been considering another child. Today I was told of his passing and I am deeply sorrowed. God sent us a wonderful person and I am thankful I had the pleasure of meeting him.

Dr. Barrett was such a gift to the community. It was because of his compassionate and informed attention that after 8 years and five losses, I have a three year old son with my eyes and his father's dimples. It's usually difficult to say anything comforting, but just think how many of the 8,428 babies or mothers would not have made it without Dr. Barrett. I know my son would have made it 8,427, and I hope that brings someone peace for a moment.

Dr. Brarrett delivered my first child on May 23rd ,1982, I was very very sick & even had intensive care time...with the help of Dr. Barrett & the Lord above I came through. He was such a good Dr. & will be truly missed by the medical community. Both my family & myself will forever be greatful to Dr. Barrett.

My daughter was one of those babies nearly 10 years ago....I was shocked to hear and prayers to his family. Cancer shows no mercy. It was a blessing he was able to do all he did in his lifetime.

Dr. Barrett delivered our daughter in 2006. In 10 short months, he left a lasting impression in my heart. May his family find peace in the work he has done and the hearts and lives he touched every single day. I will forever be greatful for those 10 months and can only imagine the sorrow and pain experienced by those who have known him a lifetime.

I met Dr. Barrett 12 years ago in nursing school, and can remember thinking "Wow, if I ever decide to have a child, this wonderful man will be my doctor." That dream came true a few years ago, and what a blessing he was to my family! I can still see him telling me at my post-partum visit that he would be delighted to deliver my next child, and I still cherish the picture I took of him and my son. My prayer for all of those who are grieving is that through your faith you can have the hope of one day again seeing him.
