My condolences and prayers go out to Shirley's family. She will truly be missed. She had a very caring heart. Me and my brother and sister will always remember her. We grew up next door to Miss Shirley in the mid to late 80s early 90s. She was very influential on us all. We felt she truly cared about our well-being. She was our neighbor when neighbors were Neighbors. A time when neighbors watched out over you just like your parents would. If she saw you doing something wrong she didn't mind speaking her mind and chastising you out of love. Then she tell your mom and daddy and then you get it again. She taught me a great deal about respecting people 4 people not race. I will always cherish and carry her memories in my heart. The times we spent living next door to her and growing up with her grandchildren. There were no other children in our neighborhood so we always look forward to when her grandchildren came over. Now if we were being bad her grandchildren one going to get to play with us. So it actually caused us to behave a little bit better because we had no one else to play with. I will always remember playing hopscotch double dutch and basketball in front of our two houses on Davis Avenue. Even though she is gone her memory will always live through us all. We will all carry a piece of her in our hearts forever.
