God's grace and love to the family. Class of 1966
June 12, 2013
Daddy,

I want to start out with saying I love you and there will NEVER be another like Wiley Kendrick III. I have never known a person that could bring the best out of everyone he met. As my father you pushed me to be the best son, husband, father, worker, student, and most importantly Christian I could be. You would accept nothing less from me because you saw what I was capable of even when I couldn't. As you told me so often when explaining a situation "Son, this is why boys have Fathers". I am far from perfect and I have no problem admitting that. But when I fell in the natural and scraped my leg or in the Sprit you were ALWAYS there to bring correction and then guidance in a way that was understanding, comforting, and compassionate. You did this for me and so many others. I have read so many comments and replies from others and they describe a man that touched their lives in a way that was so vital. Many used words like Godly, loving, compassionate, faithful, dedicated, understanding and many more that describe you. I know these words to be right on and true to the core. My Father loved his relationship with God and he had such a heart for people. He so loved his family, his church, and his church family. I cant tell you how much he stressed the importance of family and that extended to a spiritual family as well. I can hear my father saying "I love you my pastor" and folks those of us who attend Family Worship Center could not have a better one!!! I could tell countless stories of going to other states and walking into a Walmart and hearing "Brother Wiley"!!!! I thought to myself who is this man that I can drive ten hours to Tennessee and within 3 minutes of getting out of the vehicle already know someone. That's just who this man was. His personality, love for others and Christ made you want to know him, it made you connect and draw to him. When I would say "Daddy you know everyone and people love you" he would humbly reply its "God's love and to him be the Glory". Daddy use to tell me Son you are a people person and that is "your calling", your God's Nehemiah. I could spend hours talking and writing about who my father is but I have a feeling most of you already know. I will conclude with Wiley Kendrick is a great example of who we all need to strive to be in Christ. Our job now is to become little Wiley Kendrick's. Love people the way he loved people, spread the "word" the way he spread the word, and live your life like someone is always watching "because they are son". You never know when you will be able to touch someone and change their life for the better. "You are a Kendrick son, you may not have asked to be but none the less you are, now carry yourself as such".

To my Daddy,

I thank you for everything you instilled in me and I am the man I am today because of you. You my father taught me much. I love you with all that I am and we will see you again but for now enjoy your heavenly rewards because God knows you earned them.

Your Son

To the family of Mr. Kendrick...I had him as a math teacher when I was at Southwest Jr. High in 1971-1973. He was one of my favorite teachers EVER. When my son had him YEARS later for a math teacher, he remembered me before I even had a chance to speak to him. I'm sure over his years of teaching, he inspired many, many young lives, and I know he was a favorite teacher for many. He will never be forgotten. Thank YOU Mr. Kendrick, and God is blessing you many times over!

My Dearest Vicki,
Our love, prayers and condolences are with your family. Twenty-eight years ago, when you were my daughter's teacher, you allowed us to meet your beloved husband, and from the very moment he shook my hand, I knew I had met a gentleman of the highest esteem and honor. The gentleness and calmness in his voice, never overshadowed the strength in his words. There was always a strong spiritual presence around whenever I would run into the both of you. Your devotion, respect and love for each other was absolutely infectious. As a single mother, your marriage and relationship was the mirror and framework that I used to instill a strong sense of character and values in my daughters. You and Wiley never paused to let me know how important it is to know the Lord. We have been privileged. With love...Eleanor, Ogo, Nikki, Jessie, and Nellie.
