JAMES LANDON JONES JR. McALLEN - James Landon Jones Jr. passed quietly in his sleep Sunday, July 14, 2013. McAllen will mourn the loss of Lan as Heaven celebrates the homecoming of one of God's own along with his precious angel Tres. Lan is best known for his love of life and his kind and sweet spirit. Lan did not know a stranger and his generosity was unparalleled. He will always be remembered for his kindness and positive outlook in all circumstances. There are countless people Lan helped along the way wanting nothing in return. Besides his wonderful family Lan is beloved by all those he worked with as well as the many he served with through the years. Born August 27, 1950, Lan was an accomplished businessman in the community and the father of three beautiful children and an adoring wife, Mary Vance. His children include Amy Casteel Ochse (Will III), Mary Landon Jones, and the late Tres Jones. He is survived by his mother (Jacqueline Casteel Jones/late James Landon Jones Sr.), sister Jill (Dr. Marvin Smith), cousin S Foss Jones (Becky), sisters-in-law, Erin Eckensberger (Jim), Jan Tolson, and Mrs. R.S. Tolson III (late brother-in-law Raymond Stanley Tolson III), and mother-in-law, Joann Skinner Tolson (late father-in-law, Raymond Stanley Tolson Jr.). Also surviving Lan are nieces and nephews, Cuatro Tolson, Billy Tolson, Christine Tolson, Garret Cox, Tierney Tolson Oakes, Erin Ann Tolson Oakes, Lindsey Eckensberger, and Mary Grace Eckensberger. Lan continued as the third generation the legacy of Jones & Jones founded in 1926 by his grandparents Amy and Frank Jones and continued by his parents Jacqueline & Jim Jones. When not found in his office at Jones & Jones, Lan loved to play golf (played 18 holes the day he passed) and just be with his beautiful wife Mary Vance, daughters Mary Landon and Casteel, and precious son Tres. As an astute businessman, Lan also was an original board member and owner of International Bank where he was currently serving as Chairman of the Board. His resume also included service as President and Board member of the HCA, President and member of the McAllen Rotary Club, President of the McAllen Country Club, and a Bleeding Orange Texas Ex (1972). Lan also found time to obtain his pilot's license. Lan was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He knew the greatest legacy he could leave was his faith in God and relied upon Him to get him through the trials of his life. He knew his faith in God would be the path to being with his father and his son, Tres. Lan's desire would be his passing would be viewed as a promotion and all would celebrate life, and the time left on this side of heaven would be filled with love, kindness, generosity and doing the right thing in all circumstances. Services are in the care of Kreidler Funeral Home, which will be at St. John's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in memory of Lan and our precious Tres to the Vannie Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation (101 East Expressway 83, McAllen, Tx. 78503). kreidlerfuneralhome.com Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries

I met Mr. Jones only recently while insuring one of his properties. While I did not have the privilege of knowing him very long, his gracious spirit was so apparent! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loving family and those he worked closely with for so long.

I lost a dear friend when Lan went to his eternal home. I feel so priveleged to have know Lan and to have counted him as one of my closest friends. His energy was always so powerful and people were drawn to him. It's hard for me to imagine not hearing his voice again and experiencing his kindness... I have never thought of the after life as much as after his passing. I feel confident that he is in Heaven with Tres and they are catching up on old times...building airplanes...playing golf... You will be missed by many but none more than me old friend!

I am so sorry to hear of Lan's passing. One of my favorite childhood memories of Lan was when Mary Rowland and I would wander down the street to Lan's house to see if he wanted to play. He always invited us in to hang out at his house. He was one of the kindest people I've ever known! Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Sincerely, Robin and Roger von Rosenberg
