ROGELIO MEDRANO SR. LA BLANCA - Rogelio Medrano, Sr., 88, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He was born on February 25, 1926 in Edinburg, Texas to Jesus Medrano, Sr. and Romula Castaneda. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jesus, Jr., Roberto and Ruben Medrano; sisters, Amelia Palomarez and Anita Renteria. Rogelio is survived by his wife of 50 years; Maria C. "Concha" Medrano; son, Rogelio (Belinda A.) Medrano, Jr.; daughters, Martha Elva (Amado, Jr.) Moreno and Connie (Tony, Jr.) Morales; brother, Fidel (Teresa) Medrano; sister, Eloisa (Rafael) Luna, 8 – grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Rogelio lived in La Blanca most of his life and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in San Carlos. He honorably served his country in the United State Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked with Valley Fruit and Vegetables Company from 1978 – 1993 and owned Rogelio Medrano & Son Trucking Company for over 20 years. During the summer time he would work hauling grain and wheat around the areas of Driscoll, El Campo, Alvin, Port Lavaca, and Jourdanton, Texas. He was a hardworking man who provided for his family, his greatest times were spent with his wife and family. He will be missed, but not forgotten. His legacy will continue in the hearts of his family and friends. The Medrano Family received friends Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg. Christian Mass will be held today, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial with military honors under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #7473 of Elsa, Texas will follow to Val Verde Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Donna. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
