Dale E. Gould, age 90, of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Warwick Living Center in Alma.
Dale was born December 21, 1922 in Wheeler Township, the only son of Elmer and Thelma (Emery) Gould. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1941. Dale married Kathryn Sherwood on March 28, 1942 at Kathryn's family home. He was a life long Gratiot County farmer at heart and also worked for 4 1/2 years at St. Louis Chemical Company and 17 1/2 years for Dow Chemical before retiring. After retiring he and Kathryn would winter in Arizona and starting playing shuffle board. Together Kathryn and Dale went on to win Senior National and Olympic Championships and started a shuffle board league in Mt. Pleasant. Dale also helped for 17 1/2 years as a 4-H leader in Breckenridge. He was a member of the Emerson Presbyterian Church and honored as a Patriarch of the Church for his many years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years; 3 sons, Lynn (Judith) Gould of Clare, Larry (Pauline) Gould of Marquette, Brian (Cheryl) Gould of Morley; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Barbara Peacock in 2004.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Emerson Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lux and Whiting Funeral Chapel, Breckenridge and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
