McCoy, Gary Lee; age 64; of Alma; passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014; at Sparrow Hospital, in Lansing, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born July 15, 1949, in Alma, the son of Rollin “Tim” and Dorothy (Wark) McCoy. He was a 1967 graduate of Alma High School and married Sally Ebright on August 30, 1969 at the Coe Church of Christ in St. Louis. Gary served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from March of 1968 until his honorable discharge on February 1, 1974. Gary worked at the Giant Supermarket for 20 years, working his way from bag boy to office manager. He later spent 15 years working as the Head of the Crude Unit for Total Petroleum and retired from Consumers Energy EERC Department in 2002 after five years of service. Gary was a life member of the Alma VFW, the American Legion, and has been a member of the Alma Elks Lodge #1400 for over 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his quad. He had a gift of music and enjoyed entertaining friends, especially on his guitar. He and Sally enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in San Benito, Texas for the last 10 years. Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sally of Alma; two children, Gary McCoy, II of Alma and Corinne McCoy of Breckenridge; three granddaughters, Corrin, Morgan and Bailey McCoy; a brother, Mike (Sharon) McCoy of Alma; and a sister, Jeannie O’Boyle of Alma. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Ann McCoy. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Alma Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alma VFW or the Alma Elks 365 Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. Sorry to hear about Gary. I have known Gary and Sally for many year . Him and I would talk about music, Guitar Playing, Veitnam and singing the old country songs. Gary was one of the finest guys I have ever had the privilege of knowning. We are all going to miss him dearly. My Condolences. Waylyn
