Happy Birthday Up In Heaven I Love You Rip Sweet Angel
January 24, 2014
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Anderson's,
Joe was part of our family as he and my son deployed as part of the 248th out of Fort Bragg and were stationed together in Hawaii. During our visit to Hawaii, Joe spent some time with us eating, talking and just having a good time. Our prayers join you all to give everybody the strength to heal those broken hearts. I would like to send my condolences to the entire Anderson family. This was a heart breaking story to learn of the cause of his death after serving our Country. May GOD continue to lift his kids up in spirit and give them the strength. Encourage them and let them know that their father was truly a Solider on earth and now he's even a GREATER SOLDIER for GOD! R.I.P. Man. This is from a complete stranger.

The Anderson Ohana,

I had the privilege of working with Joseph and getting to know him while he and his family were stationed on Oahu. He was a really good person that was always there for anyone whether he knew you or not. I am honored to have called him a friend.

The angels looked down from heaven one night
They searched for miles afar
And deep within the distance
They could see a shining star.

They knew that very instant
That the star was theirs to gain
So they took you up to heaven
Forever to remain.

Look down on us from heaven
Keep us free from hurt and pain
You'll always be within our hearts
Until we meet again.

To the family of Joseph Anderson:
Me and Joe go back over 12 years ago to "sonic drive thru" days where we worked together as teenagers. He came to many of my Higgins high school dances with me. We were very good friends. Joe was a wonderful all around person! This tragedy is very sad. He was to young and to good of a person to be taken away so soon. He is what I call a hero! My thoughts and prayers go out to his kids, parents, siblings, family members, and other friends!
January 08, 2014
I did not know SSG Anderson. However, I am no less gripped with the horrifying news of his death as I watched dismayed by the story on the local news. I am a wife of a deployed soldier overseas in Afghanistan and we have two beautiful sons. I am angered by how such a great soldier, as I've read from many posts about SSG Anderson's character, can do 3 tours in Iraq, beset in enemy territory, but yet is able to stay safe but then comes home on American soil to his own local community and be gunned down. My prayers are with your family, especially SSG Anderson's children. I pray for God's comfort and in due time that your sorrow will turn to peace.
January 08, 2014
My deepest condolence to Mr. Andersons family and especially his children. As promised to come, no more death, mourning, outcry nor pain. All to become things of the past. Revelation 21:3,4

Love always,

SSGT Anderson, it certainly was a pleasure knowing you for the brief moment that I did; it seemed like a lifetime. I absolutely loved your spirit and the passion that you had for life and the huge love that you had for your children. I believe that the heavens are smiling for the gaining of such a wonderful angel. Your purpose has been served and served well. You are and will be missed... May God bless your soul. May He also keep your family in perfect piece and heal thier hearts at this time and the days to come. R.I.P.
January 08, 2014
Today is such a hard day for all those who served with you. Fort Bragg was a joy knowing I had someone from our home state to joke with. I pray that we all find peace and justice. May your soul rest in paradise! I will keep my black and gold flying high especially for you. Love you Joe!

Joe, you will truly be missed. My condolences and prayers to the Anderson family.

Kathleen, I can't express the words to ease your sorrow, but know that Joseph has gone from one great family to another. Our Lord will watch over him as you did and Joseph will in turn watch over you and his family. May the Lord guide you in your next footsteps to finding that laughter and joy in your heart that you all shared with your son, brother and father. May our Almighty Lord lift Joseph in his arms and bring him home with his family and friends that have gone before him. May he Rest In Peace.

My deepest condolences.

I was so sad to hear about your beloved son's passing. May you find some comfort in the knowledge that others share your loss of such a fine young man and father. SSG Anderson was a great NCO, kind individual, and always willing to help others. I was blessed to have the opportunity to serve alongside him. I still remember the day we had staff duty together... that was a fun 24 hours; and the softball and football games... those were good times. We joked that he was the white version of me because we were both bald. It's still hard to believe that his life was cut short like this. My deepest condolences go out to his family and children. R.I.P SSG Joseph Anderson, we'll miss you bro!

To my brother-in-law Joseph,

I remember the first day I met you. It was my birthday, October, 1999. I went to dinner with my friends. When I came back, you were at my house with my sister and son. I asked my sister who that white boy sitting on my sofa was. Well after that, you were apart of my life until your life was taken away.

I last saw you on Christmas Day when you came to pick up the kids. The Thursday before that, I set right next to you during Morgan's Christmas play. We shared a love for music. I remember you always wanted to listen to my CDs. I was there in Killeen with you when you first left for Iraq. I was so afraid that you would not come home then. The white boy that I met just became a regular person. I did not see color. Love has no color.

Thanks for being a good dad and uncle. We will miss you!

Kathleen and David,

I personally send you and your children and grandchildren my deepest sympathy for the passing of Joseph. Knowing the love of simplicity, humility and honor that you all provide throughout your lives, is precious in this day and age. God's love is very powerful. It is steadfast, unending. This is exactly how Joseph's love will continue on. This is how you will persevere and endure throughout this time ahead of you. Your faith is built on solid foundation. My heart aches with yours, because we are human and we are created to feel emotions.
Spiritually, I rejoice in knowing and praying that your beloved Joseph, no longer has to suffer Earthly pain or worries. His soul is much needed for Spiritual battle. He will always be STAFF SGT. JOSEPH; now he can be the Hero that he was called to be, with that statement alone, I am so proud to know and honor him. I will forever think of him, his children, his family, his friends, his comrades and mostly his love.
I wish to remain in touch with you and your loving family. So please contact me whenever you feel the need, I will also check in with you.

With God's graceful love,
Valerie Rose Powers
