I will miss my uncle Jack and allow me to share one of his stories that he shared at a Thiel Family reunion some years. All six boys of my grandparents Art and Ann Thiel served in one of the many branches of military, which was uncommon in their days, but unusual today. Jack's brothers were competitive and several brothers exalted and bragged about their military branch of service to the reunion attendees. The attendees asked Jack to shared his military experience and being a U.S. Marine, Jack stated that when he wanted to know where the U.S. Army was (which was the military branch that most of his other brothers served in), He just looked backwards over his shoulder and said, "they were always behind and the U.S. Marines, who were always in front".

I Will miss Jack, one of Markesans very best. I am happy that I got to talk with him this summer at his house. We talked a lot about our snowmobile fun days. My sympathy to all the family. Jim Laper, Florida
