I miss my brother.

I was a young plane captain when Lt. soon to be Capt Jonas became our flight line OIC in VMFA-232 in the early 80s. He was always a gung ho officer. Always positive, funny, full of life. I happened to Google his name because he came into my thoughts and I was curious what he was up to. So sad to hear the news even belatedly. He was a good man. He always treated us enlisted guys well. And so full of life and laughter. One last salute to you as you taxi away. Aloha and Semper Fi Sir!

Jan, you old skalawag! We had a lot of good times in our youth, didn't we? Our years of PLC, TBS, Pensacola! We were in DC in 1976 for our Nations Bi-Centennial celebration. We had a blast! Thanks for being in my wedding too! We thought we were all that in our Dress Whites before we had proper tailoring. Embarrassing, ha ha! Anyway, Devil Dog, until we meet again, fond memories. Semper Fi, your pal, Bruce Groesbeck

I'm so sad. I was just talking about Jan today, then his picture popped up on my Facebook page this evening, and that's when I learned the news. We lost track years ago, but I never forgot his laugh, his smile, or his beloved dog, who without fail sneezed in my face every time I saw her.

I am so sorry for your loss.
