I had the honor of being Sandy's physician. I got to know her very well. She had a severe threatening illness which she fought tooth and nail. she demonstrated a lot of courage and tenacity. She was not a quitter. I uplift Sandy for her courage and determination.
I will miss taking care of her. She suffered with a lot of chronic symptoms and disease flares. She was able to keep her sense of humor and perspective. She and Lou had a wonderful relationship. As much as I admire Lou for his Everest Climb, I also equally admire Sandy for her fight against her disease. I could tease her about the fact that we both were grduates of Shrine of the Little Flower ( different years of course-I'll let you figure who graduated first). I'm going to miss seeing this lovely and elegant lady.

DEAR LOU & SONS, I JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT ABOUT SANDY*S PASSING. I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT. WE USE TO WALK TO SHRINE GRADE SCHOOL TOGETHER, ROSIE SIMMONS, THERESE CHAREST, MY SISTER NORLENE & MYSELF. SANDY JUST LIVED ACROSS THE FIELD WHERE THE SUSIE Q RESTAURANT WAS. WE LIVED ON LLOYD. SOMETIMES ON SATURDAYS, SHE WOULD RIDE DOWN TO DETROIT WITH OUR FAMILY (ALL 6 OF US) & WE WERE CRAMPED IN. WE WOULD SPEND THE WHOLE DAY DOWN THERE. WHILE MY DAD WAS MANAGING (THE TELENEWS THEATER) WE WOULD ALL GO TO THE J.L. HUDSON CO. TO SHOP & EAT LUNCH AT SANDERS. NOT TOO LONG AGO, SHE REMINDED ME HOW GOING TO SHRINE GRADE SCHOOL, WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR ANY MAKE-UP, SO HER DAD CAME UP WITH THE IDEA OF USING A Q-TIP DIPPED IN VASELINE & PUT IT ON OUT EYELASHES! HOW CLEVER! THEN ONTO HIGH SCHOOL, WE KIND OF LOST CONTACT. I REMEMBER SANDY AS A VERY MATURE YOUNG LADY & I MEAN LADY ALWAYS. SHE WAS VERY SWEET, SOFT SPOKEN, SMART & ATTRACTIVE! I WILL MISS HER ALWAYS! HOPE YOU RECEIVED MY SYMPATHY CARD. I JUST FLEW UP THERE TO MICHIGAN FOR THE DREAM CRUISE & HAD HOPED TO GO BY & SEE MRS. COLOSIMO. BUT, NOT ENOUGH TIME. ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN IN MY PRAYERS EVERY NIGHT! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! TAKE CARE! LOVE, NANCY WHEATON BAKER

Lou,
Our prayers are with you and your family. I remember Sandy with great fondness. We taught together for many years. SHe always had a sparkle and a smile. The students loved her! She will be remembered with smiles.
