Hi, Mary, thanks for your response. Your dad was a wonderful person, I will always be grateful that he was in my life for a few years. I can only imagine the stories you could tell about growing up with him as your father - I envy you... If you'd like to contact me directly, I'd be happy to hear from you. Best wishes,

Jeanne Crisp

Thanks for making me smile with your stories of my Dad. I remember going with him to the library when I was a kid. It was always a fun experience. He would be remodeling or moving shelves around or working on something or another. I miss him very much.

I worked with Mr. B at the State Library for many years. Since my dad was also born of Italian immigrant parents I really enjoyed the shared bond. One of my favorite memories is from working with Mr. B on a remodeling project. One night the contractors left scraps of material on the floor. Mr. B walked into the area the next morning, picked up a skinny piece of aluminum cut from a duct pipe, and bent one end so it could stand upright, about 15" tall. The piece of metal looked rather artistic so I put it on display. Over the next few months, many people commented on what an attractive work of art it was. (This is a true story!) I'm glad I knew Mr. B, a very warm and wonderful man.

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

We will miss, Gene. He was always a great neighbor.

In the late 1950's, while I was working as asst public info officer for the Dept. of Highways, Gene was a part of the State Library situated just behind us. We regarded Gene "the final word" on any fact or bit of data we needed. Not only a "great guru" but one of the nicest "people" I've ever known. God Bless you Gene. Patrick Gallagher
