Joseph Sierzputowski Obituary

NORTH HAVEN - Joseph P. "Sierz" Sierzputowski, Sr., 96, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the Whitney Manor, Hamden. He was the husband of Alice Desfosses Sierzputowski.

Joseph was born in New Haven on Jan. 12, 1919, son of the late Paul and Stella Koldzcek Sierzputowski; served his country faithfully in the Seabees during World War II and had worked as a machinist for Metro North for many years until his retirement. Joseph was a member and past commodore of the City Point Yacht Club and a member of the American Legion, Murray/Reynolds Post 76.

He was the father of Alberta Flynn, Joanna (Thomas) Delegram and Joseph (Rita) Sierzputowski, Jr.; brother of Marion (George) Nash, Lotti Domek and the late Helen Kaliscak and Jean Scott. He was also survived by seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Pamela SanGiovanni. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sophie Domek.

His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Saturday, Feb. 28. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Barnabas Church. Interment was followed in St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy, Ste. 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
