Edward Burnham Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Mar. 23 to Mar. 24, 2013.

Edward Burnham June 23, 1930 - March 14, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Louis Burnham. Ted began his life in Burnaby on June 23rd, 1930, son to John and Evelyn, brother to John, Doug and Edith.

Ted was a born entrepreneur trying many careers throughout his life including working for IBM in the early days, working for the city of Burnaby, managing a Medical Clinic (being in the "doctor business") before becoming a realtor and eventually running his own real estate and insurance company Kennedy Cooper. Ted was never one to shy away from risks, investing in and encouraging friends and family in business opportunities, offering support and advice and generally being everybody's "go to guy". In his forties Ted got involved in local politics, first running for the school board and then being elected as alderman for the city of Burnaby,

Ted was predeceased by his siblings and his wonderful wife Rosemary. He is survived by his daughters Rosanna and Marla Jane, grandsons Sean and James, sister-in-law Phyllis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted and Rosemary travelled the world in their 50 years of marriage. Up until two weeks ago Ted was playing bridge two nights a week at the Vancouver Bridge club, riding his bike twice a day daily by the Fraser river with his dog Louie and enjoying Sunday dinners with his family. He was a wonderful loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the BC Cancer Society.

A gathering to swap stories about 'Big Ted' will be held April 21st, 2013 at the Riverway Golf Clubhouse in Burnaby at 2:00.

Played bridge with Ted many times at the Vancouver Bridge Centre. My son played a few times with him too. Ted was a great fellow; always a gentleman and always in good humour. He'll be missed very much at our bridge games. Thanks, Ted!!!!
