I was so glad to have received the picture of Bob - thank you! I spent a lot of time growing up, at the Pfeifer's home. Life was always exciting when Bob was around. I played ball with Bob and Norm and we enjoyed many good times together! Here was one of them: it was Saturday night of the Grey Cup in Vancouver, so Bob and I were there taking in the festivities. Calgary was in town so there were many nice Stetson hats on the streets. Bob said to me, "Heppell, I've always wanted one of those - think I can get that one off that fellow's head?" There were 2 guys walking 3-5 feet ahead of us. Bob was off as fast as lightning, he snatched the hat off the guy and disappeared in the crowd down a side street leaving me to fend off 2 very annoyed Calgary fans. These guys were about to skin me alive but I played completely ignorant. About 15 minutes later Bob appeared wearing his new hat for the rest of the night. Wow-never a dull moment!!
A few years later I had a very deep spiritual experience that changed my life forever, and of course I shared this with Bob (he was always very honest with me). Years went by and then he phoned me one night to tell me he truly believed what I'd told him was true, because he'd seen the change in my life, and now his eldest daughter's changed life as well. One night days before his passing, this daughter phoned to tell me Bob had committed his life to the Lord Jesus! What rejoicing in my soul that now he too was ready to meet the Lord in Heaven!!
