Helen (Mary Louisa) Laverty December 8, 1928-2013
In loving memory of Helen Laverty who passed away February 8th, 2013 following complications from a recent hip fracture. Helen had a very long and happy life. Her laughter and happy nature will be sadly missed. We thought we lost her years ago to an aneurism but following several months in a coma she fought back to make a full recovery and live another 40 years - amazing! Helen & Gordon raised their family of 4 in a close knit neighborhood in Coquitlam , later moving to East Vancouver, and eventually retiring in Langley, B. C. Mom loved people and took every opportunity to speak to strangers and make new friends. She saw only the good in people and rarely uttered an unkind word. She enjoyed volunteering and spent many years with the Langley Seniors Choir. Pastry was her forte and everyone enjoyed her pies. She will be greatly missed by Gordon, her husband of 61 yrs, children Marilyn, Janice, Tom and Arlene, seven grand kids, siblings Herb, Tom and Nora and the rest of her family and friends. We thank the staff at The Residences at Clayton Heights for their kindness with mom and continued care of Dad. Memorial service to be held at a later date.

I had the pleasure of working with Helen's daughter Marilyn and her husband for 23 years. During that time I got to know both Helen and Gord and my thoughts go out to you all. Helen was always smiling and cheerful and always wanting to talk and share a story. What a wonderful woman.
